The Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Foundation is serving as a $500 sponsor for Personal Finance Challenge, a statewide high school competition showcasing students expertise in the subject of personal finance.
The April event will be hosted by Economics Arkansas and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, Little Rock and Memphis branches. Students across Arkansas will first compete in an online competition April 5-9, 2010, and the top 12 teams (2 from 6 regions of the state) will advance to the state competition to be held April 29th on the UCA Campus. The 1st place winning team will win a cash prize of $500 and advance to the national competition to be held in Kansas City in May. The 2nd place winning team will receive $250, and all students participating in the state finals will receive medallions, t-shirts, and lunch. In addition, all teacher advisors entering student teams into the competition are eligible to be in a drawing for $150. The competition encourages teachers to engage students in real life learning as they increase their knowledge of personal finance concepts. The overall goal is to increase the economic literacy of Arkansas students before they leave high school. |
