In 2010 a generous donation was made by the Arnold Family Foundation to Park Hill Neighborhood Association to fund the design of a master plan for Crestview Park, located in the Park Hill neighborhood of North Little Rock, AR. Concurrently, the city of North Little Rock is providing funding for the survey, design, and construction of a new playground in the park along Crestview Boulevard. The purpose of the Crestview Park master plan is two-fold. One, the master plan will incorporate the design and location of the new playground planned for the park so that any long term planning is sensitive to this development, aesthetically and functionally. Second, the master plan will address a series of problems and provide solutions, and point out positive aspects of the park that can be easily enhanced with an innovative design approach. The master plan does not seek to create a phased implementation of any design solution or idea, nor does it place priority to any items. Each design idea illustrated in this plan can be implemented at any time independent of other design elements.
Crestview Park holds special historical significance as it is one of the oldest parks in the neighborhood, and contains two artistic works done by Mexican-American sculptor Dionicio Rodriguez. The design solutions created in the master plan are meant to continue the legacy of artistry in Crestview Park, in addition to creating beautiful outdoor spaces for the residents of Park Hill to enjoy.
