Scholarships to Ouachita Baptist University are available to 2011 high school graduates in the DeValls Bluff and Hazen area through the auspices of the Bill and Sharon Arnold Family Educational Foundation. These scholarships were established by contributions from Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Arnold. Recipients must meet academic standards of the university for scholarship qualification and must be good citizens of the campus community. Recipients must be enrolled or entering the enrollment process as full-time students at Ouachita Baptist University. Preference is given to students that reside within the Biscoe, DeValls Bluff or Hazen zip codes, have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher and must have an ACT score of at least 22, and demonstrate financial need as defined by the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). “We firmly believe that Ouachita is one of the best liberal arts schools in the country,” noted Curtis Arnold, who serves as the director of the Arnold Family Foundation. “At the same time, we strongly believe that students from the Hazen and DeValls Bluff area who are interested in OBU shouldn’t let financial concerns stop them from pursuing their dreams.” The Arnold Family Educational Foundation Scholarship is renewable for recipients who have maintained a 3.0 GPA in their coursework at Ouachita and have continued financial need as confirmed through annually updated FAFSA applications. Scholarship awards will be $6,250 for two students for one year or $12,500 for one student for one year and should not exceed the total cost of tuition, fees, room and board.
